This instructor-led course provides the U. S. Department of Transportation standardized training program that can be conducted by any transit service provider to train qualified, professional bus operators. Instructors are trained in presentation and creative learning techniques, facilitation methods, and adult learning principles for teaching operators skills in vehicle operations, emergency management, and customer relations. Upon completion of this course, instructors are certified by the U. S. DOT to train bus operators.

Registration and Fees

The registration fee is $100 per person. The registration fee includes workshop materials, coffee, water, and snacks. Lunch will be on your own. To register, return the registration form with your payment or purchase order by July 5th. Make checks payable to the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool.

Members and Non-Members

Members are determined to be employees of transportation systems providing services to the public in Washington State and members of the partner organizations that make-up the Coalition. The partners are: Washington State Department of Transportation, Washington State Transit Association, Community Transportation Association of the Northwest, Washington State Transit Insurance Pool, and Eastern Washington University Northwest Tribal Technical Assistance Program.

Such transportation systems include any combination of services, facilities, and infrastructure related to transit, special needs transportation, ridesharing, airport shuttles, passenger rail, ferries, and taxi services. Individuals who do not work for a transportation system as defined above are considered non-members and will be charged an additional $25 per day training fee.

Location and Schedule

The class will be held at the Everett Station located at 3201 Smith Avenue in Everett, WA. The workshop will begin at 8:00 am and run until 4:30 pm. An hour and half lunch break will begin at 12:00. Lunch will be on your own.

Directions

Allow yourself 15 minutes to park and walk into Everett Station from the parking lot!

Take exit 193 for Pacific Ave toward WA-529/City Center. Turn left at Pacific Avenue. Just before the bridge, turn left on Hill/Folstrom. Proceed straight into the parking lot when the road turns to the left (or continue to the end of the street and turn right into the parking lot). Park your vehicle in stalls closest to the pedestrian bridge that crosses the tracks. Take the pedestrian bridge across the tracks and walk to Everett Station (yes there is an elevator there if you need it).

The Dan Snow Training Room is located on the second floor, Room 215.

You may also park in Lots A and B located in front of Everett Station (the front is the bus side and the back side is the track side), however, this parking is often limited. To reach these lots:

Follow Pacific to the overpass. At the top of the overpass, turn left onto Smith Ave. Everett Station is the large brick building on the left side of the street.

From Marysville & North - I-5 South:
Take I-5 Southbound to the Everett Ave. exit (#194). Turn right onto Everett Ave. Turn left onto Cedar St. then turn right onto Pacific Ave. At the top of the overpass, turn left on Smith Ave.

Everett Station is the large brick building on the left side of the street.

Workshop Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your workshop registration without penalty, up to, July 7, 2010

Cancellations made on or later than July 8, 2010 will be charged the full workshop fee. The Training Coalition may cancel the class if on July 8, 2010 , fewer than 12 people are registered for the course. If the Training Coalition cancels the course, participants will receive a complete refund.
