Tools for Measuring Transit Quality

November 9th - WSTIP Offices - Olympia, WA

What you will Learn

How to evaluate how many people and jobs have transit service by neighborhood, route, corridor and system.

How to examine service alternatives when walk/wait times, frequency, coverage, span and accessibility are changed.

How to identify and create lists (mailing and phone) for areas already served by transit, for areas where new service will be offered, and for areas where service is going to change.

CLASS FULL

*Laptop is REQUIRED for this class.

Do you wonder how your transit agency is performing? This hands-on class will teach you how to evaluate your quality of service using the Transit Level of Service Software (TLOS) developed by Jon Ausman. Many transit plans provide extensive transit coverage of geographical areas, yet the mode split numbers are often very low. Ausman's Transit Level of Service (TLOS) software accurately measures actual transit availability. For policy makers this software can demonstrate service levels by neighborhood, route, corridor and system. It can show actual service and compare it to the mode split.

Participants in this workshop will receive a copy of the software and learn about the software's fundamental theories and concepts. Workshop participants will use the software to work on numerous problems and create different solutions to a variety of scenarios. They leave with a working knowledge of the software and understand its use as a quality measurement tool.

Who Should Attend

Transit route planners, public information officers, operations managers, community members and business leaders.
